Reality-Show-competition Drinking Game

CrazyBitch
I went looking for a generic reality-show-competition drinking game on teh intarwebz and found ones specific to shows, but nothing that would work for reality shows in general. So, I started my own. Feel free to add your suggestions!

Drink for every instance of the following:

"I'm not here to make friends!"

"I'm here to win./I did not come here to lose."

Someone cheats on their significant other (chug if it occurs in a hot tub)(heck, just chug for any sexual activity in a hot tub)

"This could totally backfire on me."

A team member is thrown under the bus in front of the judges.

A physical cat fight occurs.

"I'm keeping it real."

"You just can't handle it."

"This is who I am./That's not who I am."

"I'm not ready to go home yet."

I don't watch nearly enough variety of these shows to have a handle of everything that occurs in them, but I think this is a pretty good start. Heck, in one episode of Project Runway, I can easily empty a cocktail with just the statements above.

Funding research and a cure

Profile
The JDRF is circulating a petition among Type 1 diabetics and their families that will be submitted to the various members of Congress. They are asking that those who sign the petition also tell their story of how Type 1 has affected their and their families lives; the stories will be included with the petitions.

This is my story that will be delivered to Rep. Zoe Lofgren, Sen. Barbara Boxer and Sen. Diane Feinstein:

I've had Type 1 diabetes for 20 years. Through hyper, hypo, Diabetic Keto-Acidosis (twice!), Walks for the Cure, buying sneakers at Walgreen's and literally millions of pokes: from nurses, from finger-sticks, from injections, from blood-draws, from participating in medical research, I've been hoping for a cure. I need to stay healthy and alive so that I can be there to raise my niece in the event something happens to her guardians, my parents. She needs me to be able to play with her as she grows up, and I need to be able to watch her get bigger and more beautiful through eyes that haven't gone blind from Diabetic Retinopathy. If I can avoid neuropathy and nerve damage and amputations, I can walk beside her and hold her hand for the rest of my life.

Please fund the JDRF and the research that will cure Type 1 Diabetes. My niece and I, as well as the rest of my family, will thank you.

Second Weekend in September

Profile
This weekend is opening weekend... buy your tickets now via www.cltc.org! The following is info from the email blast I got today. You know you wanna see some full frontal.

City Lights is thrilled to be presenting the world premiere of Second Weekend in September, a new play by local writer Andrew Black which chronicles the unexpected love story of two men who share a decades-long affair only one weekend a year. This show originally came to us through our New Play Series and has been workshopped extensively right here at City Lights -- we're proud to give the piece its first full-fledged production!

Second Weekend in September is a gay-themed play with adult content and full male nudity. If you find any of these facts alarming, this is probably not the show for you. If, on the other hand, you appreciate seeing fresh perspectives on contemporary themes, we hope you'll join us for a heartfelt and thought-provoking new play.

Remember, our Opening Night Gala is Saturday, May 22. Join us for the show that night, and afterwards you can enjoy a glass of champagne and a bite to eat while mingling with our cast and crew. Get your tickets for this fun-filled evening while they last!

We'd also like to let you know about a great deal that's available for a short time only... Purchase tickets for Second Weekend in September between now and June 1, and you'll get tickets to our upcoming production of Rent for only $14!

It's been awhile...

FishToes
And it will likely be awhile again after this just because I've got that much going on, but it's not all that interesting to share.

Had Miatas at MRLS again this weekend and it was super-fantabulous-amazing-awesomesauce. Basically it was made of win. I got to be in the photo this year, after gridding everyone again. There were awesome prizes to hand out from the banquet and I ended up with a large model car (with a retractable hard top!) and a canvas blanket. I also learned a very valuable life lesson while getting two broken fingernails: never get into a fight with a vicious queen over a leather bag. I WILL lose. Mazda had thank you gifts for all those involved in organizing the event and I now have a gorgeous stainless steel engraved frame of the event poster to hang somewhere. Good-looking guys were in healthy supply, which was nice. I didn't get enough food or sleep the entire weekend but I made up for that on Monday when I slept in until 10 a.m. and pigged out on Panda with [info]wissavix for dinner.

Speaking of dinner last night, we watched "Drag Race" and hot damn, Tatiana got booted! We've been waiting for this day for weeks and I'm not kidding when I say I broke out a bottle of champagne and we toasted the moment. We got two out of three for our Fantasy Finale (we wanted Pandora instead of Tyra), and I know my girl Raven is going to win. I've been rooting for her since the show started. PLUS! Found out this weekend that a friend of mine knows Raven and may be able to arrange a meeting. I turned into the biggest fangirl and squeed all over the place when I heard that.

I've got a ton of photos to download from the last two months, I hope to get it done this afternoon (work? what work?). You'll be able to see The Library as it was when I first moved in, with the initial decorating scheme. I've pics of the PiT decorating hard-boiled eggs for Easter and pics from the Open House. I have no idea what else is on there.

Here's a question for those who are worldly spa enthusiasts: is there anywhere outside the US (and not in a brothel) where a massage will include the glutes, abdomen and/or breasts/chest? Where a wrap or scrub will include those body parts? I had a wrap yesterday (detox sea mineral, or the "seamin" wrap as [info]wissavix calls it), and my abdomen was included when I consented, but c'mon... my butt and my boobs have a lot of skin that could use the attention too. I don't know if this is purely an American, puritanical thing or if it is worldwide to not include those areas in spa treatments/bodywork. Anyone know?

Poll-bombing the AFA

Re-post from [info]spondee:

The AFA wants to know whether you think gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military.

What do you think?

I will stop whatever I'm doing (or in this case, not start anything when I come home from work), to sit down and watch "Mr and Mrs. Smith". I don't particularly care for Brad or Angelina, but this is a damn good movie.

Putting the fun back into marriage

CrazyBitch
This is a very funny video clip that puts the whole "traditional marriage" thing into perspective. And it gives some good talking points! I have two daddies (biological and step), so what does that mean in terms of gay marriage (having two daddies) being harmful to kids?

I got less than halfway through the AP slideshow of 597 photos from the Haitian earthquake before I had to stop. I kept crying. How utterly horrific and how reminicent of 20 years ago when the Bay Area had it's own 7.0 earthquake. Haiti doesn't have the building codes we do, nor does it have our wealth. There are initial estimates that over 100k people are dead. That's 100 thousand: 100,000. That's more than the entire city of Milpitas. Just under half of Fremont. Can you imagine? We lost 60.
